Points of Interest: The Huntington Gardens

The Huntington Gardens are an oasis of art and culture set amidst 150 acres of breathtaking gardens. Mr. Huntington began developing the Botanical Gardens in 1903. Now there are approximately 15,000 species of plants, landscaped into a series of gardens, from all over the world.

The Library features works from British and American history and an extensive collection of rare books and manuscripts, including a Gutenberg Bible, the Canterbury Tales, and thousands of historical documents about Abraham Lincoln including the papers of the president's bodyguard Ward Hill Lamon.

In addition, the Huntington Art Collection is exhibited in three different buildings and features a specialized, comprehensive collection of British and French art of the 18th and 19th centuries as well as a representative collection of American art.

Admission to The Huntington is free to all visitors on the first Thursday of every month with advanced tickets; call 800-838-3006 to reserve your tickets. Hours on Free Day are 10:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
